A Beautiful Sunset Family Session at Likweti | Lowveld Family Photography

One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is reconnecting with people who have been part of different chapters of my life. This beautiful family session with Katy and her family was one of those occasions that meant so much to me.

I’ve known Katy for many years. We first met when I moved to Mozambique, where she was running the Promise Center in Matola. She was there on the day I found out that I had been offered the job I had applied for—a moment I’ll never forget. Life has taken us on different journeys since then, so it was incredibly special to spend an afternoon together again, this time capturing precious memories with her beautiful family.

We met at their home at Likweti, one of the most picturesque locations in the Lowveld. With wide open spaces, beautiful natural surroundings, and breathtaking views, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed outdoor family session.

Rather than stiff poses, we focused on genuine moments—walking together, sharing laughs, cuddles with the children, and simply enjoying time as a family. These are the moments that truly tell a family’s story and create photographs that will be treasured for generations.

Chasing the Perfect Lowveld Sunset

As the afternoon drew to a close, we made our way to the top of the hill just in time for sunset. The golden light spread across the landscape, creating the most incredible backdrop for their family portraits.

The warm Lowveld sunset added a magical glow to every image, making the session feel peaceful, natural, and timeless. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love photographing families outdoors. Every season, every sunset, and every family creates something completely unique.
